The 6320 model bearing is commonly used in the generator and main shaft sections of wind turbines, providing high load capacity and low vibration performance. Since wind turbine generators are typically located at high altitudes where maintenance is extremely expensive, and because the generator itself not only produces induced voltage but is also controlled by converters, bearings with either inner or outer ring insulation must be used to ensure a 20-year design life. In the generators of the Vestas V90-2.0MW or similar megawatt-class wind turbines, the 6320/C3VL2071 (or its interchangeable equivalent) is frequently used as the non-locating bearing for the generator rotor.
