Q&A

The bore diameter of this model is 105mm. Are there any special precautions for installation?

For large bearings like the 6221M, cold mounting is nearly impossible and highly likely to cause damage. You must use a medium-frequency induction heater to uniformly heat the bearing to about 90°C - 110°C for shrink-fitting. Do not exceed 120°C, and strictly prohibit striking the coated outer ring directly with a metal hammer during installation.

Why does the 6221M/C4VL0241 use both a brass cage and C4 clearance?

This is a "heavy-armor" configuration. The brass cage handles heavy loads, intense impacts, and high vibrations, while the C4 extra-large clearance accommodates the massive thermal expansion generated by high-power equipment running at full load. Together, they are tailor-made for heavy industrial VFD motors operating in extremely harsh conditions.

If my motor originally used SKF 6221 M/C3VL0241 (C3 clearance), can I replace it with this C4 version?

If the equipment was designed for C3 clearance and operates well, we recommend using TFL's C3 version. However, if your bearings have experienced overheating during operation, or if the ambient working temperature is exceptionally high, upgrading to the C4 clearance 6221M/C4VL0241 is a safer choice to prevent seizure.
