When should I use VL2071 (Inner Ring Insulation) instead of VL0241 (Outer Ring)?

VL2071 is recommended when the outer ring is rotating (e.g., in some wheel hub or pulley applications) or, more commonly, when the outer ring has a tight interference fit with the housing which might crack an outer coating. It is also used when the specific grounding design of the motor requires isolating the shaft directly.

Can this bearing be used in vertical motor installations?

Yes, the 6238M with its machined brass cage is excellent for vertical applications, as the cage is more stable and provides better support for the rolling elements compared to pressed steel cages.
